Summer is for fun and we have lots of fun in store just for preschoolers -- 2 1/2 to 6 years of age -- at First Friends located in downtown Fairfax.

Each two week session will be organized around a particular theme. We will read books and do projects related to our theme. Additionally, materials for our practical life, sensorial, math, language and art shelves, as well as the sensory bin and play dough will also reflect each session's theme. For each session, we will invite a visitor into our school to make a theme-related presentation or the session will culminate with a theme-related celebration. Our projects are very hands on and include: cooking, art creations, science experiments and dramatic play. Our goal is to have fun, be creative and learn!

#2 - Pick The Time Periods You Want:

Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-3:00 pm -- $525 per two-week session
Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-1:00 pm -- $450 per two-week session
Or by they day -- $75 per day (same rate for 9:00 am-3:00 pm or 9:00 am-1:00 pm)

Snacks are provided but children should bring their own lunches.

Summer Day Camp Schedule:

9:00 Drop off. Welcoming activities (play dough, easel painting, beading, puzzles)
9:30 Welcome Circle: singing, calendar, story, intro to day’s project (story and project connected to the overall theme)
9:45 Project time and choice time (some children working on the daily project, others free to choose Montessori work from the classroom or sandbox)
10:00 Visitor or walking field trip on days when those are scheduled
10:30 Snack time
11:00 Outside Time: free play and games
12:00 Lunch
12:30 Story time
1:00 Project time and choice time (offer the same project for friends that didn’t do it earlier- or open up general art activities, in addition to Montessori work in the classroom)
2:00 Outside: free play and games
3:00 Good-bye!

For an additional fee, you can also sign your child up for afternoon yoga and music classes twice a week by Jamarookids.com (we will require enough enrollments in order to provide these classes).

Camp Session Themes:

July 9-20: Rainbow Rhapsody: These two weeks are about COLOR, COLOR and more COLOR! We will immerse ourselves in the art and science of rainbows, making edible color wheels, rainbow pasta sun catchers, vibrant tie-dye, rainbow ice paintings and much, much more.

July 23 -August 3: Space Odyssey! 3-2-1 Blast off! We will spend these two weeks in outer space learning about our Solar System, the planets. stars. constellations and space travel. We will turn our play structure into a rocket ship and even enjoy some astronaut ice cream!

August 6-17: Undersea Explorations. We will spend the hottest weeks of summer exploring the deep blue sea. We will learn about our planet's oceans and many magnificent sea creatures that live there. We will make sand paper starfish, fish prints and ocean bottles. In addition to cooling of lots and lots of water play, we will turn our sand box into a beach for an end-of-summer-camp Surf Party!
